The Tear Duct surgery can be practiced once the patient has a history of blocked tear duck. Normally, tears need to drain out of the eyes. But in some cases, the tear duct can be blocked and tears can not drain. It could cause further serious problems afterwards. In rare cases, tear duct surgery is not practiced with anesthesia. During the surgery, the surgeon uses a very thin metal instrument through the tear duct and opens the blockage. Then washes out the duct in order to make sure that the path is clear.
The procedure takes around 20 minutes. Tear Duct is a very safe and common surgery.
